Visit Schemes

​

A Visit Charge is the cost of the vet visiting your horse, this fee is determined by the distance travelled from the practice.

Band 1 = £47.57 Band 2 = £54.74 Band 3 = £62.00 OOH Surcharge £41.70

 

 

        “3 for FREE” - If 3 or more horses are seen at one time on the same yard there will be no visit charge.  Please note all horses must be booked in prior to the visit.

 

        “Any vet any time” – If you are flexible we can offer you a visit within 7 working days of your request at a discounted price of £22. This is for routine treatment only i.e., vacs, dental, microchip.

Our independent practice was founded in 1874 by Benjamin Aris. Over 150 years later, Swanspool Veterinary Clinic still continues to be a thriving mixed practice - catering not only for horses and a large variety of farm animals but also domestic species such as dogs and cats. 

​

Our equine and farm animal team are completely ambulatory and are dedicated to providing you with 5* treatment on your yard.

Pat Daly - Qualifying from the University of Dublin in 1987, he joined Swanspool straight after graduating and has been a partner in the practice since 1995. His special veterinary interests are lameness and breeding. In Pat's spare time he enjoys running and drinking Costa Coffee.

​

Oliver Sheldon - Qualifying from the University of Bristol in 1997, he joined Swanspool straight after and became a partner in 2009. Oliver's veterinary interests include equine medicine and dentistry. Oliver enjoys mountain biking with his son when he's not at work.

​

Lucinda Cross - Graduating from the University of Bristol in 2022, she joined us in 2024 following the completion of her internship at Three Counties Veterinary Hospital. Lucinda's veterinary interests are diagnostic imaging and enjoys the out of hours emergencies. In her spare time Lucinda enjoys spending time with her Spaniel Bill, horse riding and playing tennis.

Sophie Westley-Reed - Graduating from the Royal Veterinary College in 2022, she joined us in 2024 after completing her internship at Oakham Equine Hospital. Sophie likes to specialise in reproduction and lameness assessments. In her spare time Sophie enjoys gun dog training with her Spaniel Tiggy and travelling.​​​​​​​

​​Rosie is our equine technician who joined the team in 2020. She assists our vets with the day to day running of the practice helping with procedures out on visits, weight clinics and supporting the office team. In Rosie's spare time she enjoys riding her horse Rufus and walking her three dogs Doris, Molly and Albert.

​Nicky has been our equine office manager since 2017. She is responsible for the running of the equine department, making sure the vets know where they need to be and helping our clients with their individual needs. She has previously worked with horses all her life, running a very successful stud producing competition horses, followed by a number of years involved with dressage through her daughter, who represented Great Britain!

Louisa is our office administrator and has been at Swanspool since 1996. With many years experience in the role, Louisa can deal with any query a client has. In her spare time Lou enjoys riding her horse Dan and taking her daughters and their ponies to lessons and competitions.
